Headed out to Shaker Village for a Civil War Re-enactment. I've only been to one re-enactment before. However, we got the time wrong & showed up just after the battle was over! Thought this would be different. HA! After today, I still have yet to see a re-enactment!!!

The plan was to have lunch in Harrodsburg at Erin's mother's house, then head to the Village from there. Got a late start. Got lost getting there. Had a nice lunch. Found out that this really wasn't going to be a real re-enactment. See, the Shakers never saw a battle on their property. However, they showed big hospitality to the soldiers. There were camps set up in the area. So what they really do is not re-enact a battle, they dress people up in funny clothes, then they sit around a camp site, looking all historical. Of course, we get there so late, the characters have torn down their camp & are leaving. So we wandered the grounds seeing the sites. My friend, Joseph, worked there several years ago. So he gave us a tour, complete with the inside scoop.

Spent the day with friends at the Celtic World Festival. Caravanned up with Debi, Peter, Amber, Kyle, Allison, Kelli, and Emily. Of course, we visited Sneaky Peat. This man sells Peat for use in grilling & making your home smelly. I bought some last year & smoked some ham. It was excellent. Of course I bought a bunch more this time around. The man is ver wordy & loves to put on a show. But if you tough it out you get a free sample complete with a shot of Irish whisky from a spray bottle! Only caught one band, Roger Drawdy & the Firestarters. They were excellent.
